Installation is really easy - Just follow these steps to install the BoosterPlug:
Locate the Air Intake Temperature (AIT) sensor in the airbox and unplug it. - BMW R - models have the sensor located under the shielding on the left side of the bike - near your left knee
• Exception 1 - The R1100 models have the sensor located in the middle of the bike, right behind the tank. • Exception 2 - On the R1200C models you need to lift the gas tank to reach the sensor. • Do NOT install the BoosterPlug to the Fuel injector right behind the cylinder head. (It’s almost the same connector, but your bike will run really weird if you install the module there. The BoosterPlug MUST be installed to the AIT sensor in the air filter box to perform as intended)
- BMW K - models have the sensor located under the gas tank. You must remove the tank to reach it. - BMW F - models have the sensor located under the fake tank center cover.
Connect the cable from the ECU to the BoosterPlug using the OEM connectors - no cutting or splicing needed. - The BoosterPlug contains a male and a female connector, so you can't connect them the wrong way.
Connect the BoosterPlug to the AIT sensor in the airbox - still using the OEM connectors.
Route the wire with the NTC resistor to a place where the NTC is not effected by engine or radiator heat and zip-tie it in place. - Do not place the external sensor behind Cylinder Heads or Radiator. - Install it in a location where the sensor is recieving a reasonable amount of cool air when you ride your bike. - Most customers install the sensor next to the air intake snorkel or under the head lamp. Both locations are excellent.
